You'll develop great singing habits
All repetition develops a habit.
When you practise new singing routines, you must do it intentionally many times - for it to become second nature.
From one exercise to the next we will gradually build your skills for natural and sustainable voice use, with your body as the ancher.
After only a few singing lessons the technique will be incorporated in your singing along with a stronger sense of body awareness.
Tension released and flexible you can begin to explore the strength in your body that will carry your voice.
Now you can move your attention to expressing yourself with your voice.
No matter what your current technical level of singing is, your age or experience - we will begin right where you are and always aligned with your ambitions and level of comfort.
Come as you are!
7 things you'll love to learn:
Breathing and support
The starting point of all voice use is good breathing and developing support from your body to your voice.
You will learn how to strengthen the connection from the singing muscles to support and carry your voice, and learn that difficult balance between a lack of tension and being ready and energized, as singing requires.
Effortless reaching more and higher notes
As you gradually strengthen the interaction between your body and voice, you will experience that you effortlessly will be able to reach the higher pitches.
You will learn how to switch register where it is natural for you voice to do so, and with this develop a more full sound in all registers.
Together we make sure that your repetoire is in the right key and pitch for you to let your voice shine.
Regain trust in your own voice
Do you experience a fragile and unpredictable voice, that your voice cracks and your throat becomes soar?
I know exactly how you feel - 'cause I've been there myself!
Back then (in my conservatory days) I got the help I needed: An intensive voice training program, where I healed and trained my voice back to health, strength and flexibility.
This is why I know precisely what it takes if you too need to let go of tension that limits the freedom of your vocal expression.
Which songs suit my voice?
Let's try out different genres and se what takes your fancy!
Go wild in all the rhythmical genres such as pop, soul, singer-songwriter, country, folk, jazz and musical..
Singing a certain genre does not depend on the structure or tembre of your voice. You'll learn the many stylistic choices that characterizes a specific genre - to follow them or break from them.
Through this you will find your own unique expression.
Phrasing, interpretation and improvisation
Break free from the original recording and give your own take on it.
Be conscious of the storyline and mood of your chosen song and deliver a performance with empathy, nerve and presence.
You'll train your ear and draw your listener in with new rhythmic and melodic variations.
When you let go of melody and lyrics all together - you'll improvise over the chords.
Gradually we will build up your skills - in a pace that is comfortable for you!
Sing Jazz: Swing, Scat & Paraphrasing
Learn how to paraphrase by varying melody and rhythm - dismiss the original version to make it your own.
Rhythm, timing and swing is routed in your body. Get familiar with the rhythmic language of jazz!
Scat is the jazz word for improvisation. You'll get hands on tools to be able to simply give it a go.
As a recording jazz vocalist I have great experience in free phrasing and interpretation which will benefit singers, who are looking for a more open and free expression - in both jazz as other genres.
Look fear in the eye - and do it anyway!
I understand that it can be hard overcoming letting anyone hear you sing.
But as I usually say: "It's just me - and I've heard everything."
The body reacts to nervousness by tensing up. This is why we don't focus on your vocal abilities alone, but also pay attention to mental boundaries you might have.
I take notice how your body works, where you lock energy and help you to let go.
Singing is a unique tool to learn to follow what we sense, and dare to act on it - even when we are uncomfortable and fearing failure.
I promise you that I will meet you lovingly, when you step out of your comfort zone, allow yourself to be heard and create a larger space for yourself to grow.
How your voice lessons proceed
You choose a song
I am happy to help you choose songs that match both your taste in music and your singing difficulties.
You are welcome to bring sheet music yourself too.
Sing anything from 80's classics, to immortal jazz standards, to recent hits.
You are accompanied on the piano
I accompany voice exercised and your song on the piano.
We always use sheet music - so you can follow the movement of the melody and skim a sheet of music.
You really don't need to read music beforehand!
You practise
At the end of the lesson we collect notes on what you should practise on at home.
You are always welcome to record exercises or the entire lesson to revisit it later and hear my corrections.
If you need a 'singalong' for singing along at home, I'll record one for you on the piano in your key.

Warm recommendations from singers
Always fun, always educational, always pushes me gently

I’m just a really happy student! I never know what’s going to happen in class (which I guess is appropriate for jazz) 🙂 but it’s always fun, always educational, and it always pushes me gently into new territory.
Jeg vil gerne synge. Godt. Men det gør jeg ikke endnu. Så jeg har brug for en sangcoach. And I feel freer to make mistakes if there’s only one other person present! I am not a religious man, and so I need to find meaning somewhere. The arts give that to me.
I use my diaphragm differently now, and I think it has improved my sound. I’ve learned that warming up isn’t quite the rigorous exercise I thought it was. I’ve learned how to place my voice all on my own.
Also, my previous sangcoaches weren’t jazz-oriented, and so I love being able to go deeper into the specifics of the genre. Louise speaks jazz.
I would recommend her to anybody wanting to improve their singing, especially for jazz, pop, folk etc styles. Super happy so far! Sangtid gør mig altid glad, og jeg lærer meget.
Tailored and personalized approach

Singing was a hobby I really enjoyed when I was younger and wanted to continue it as a pass time including working on my technique and trying out challenging songs that would allow me to improve. I wanted to do solo lessons as I prefer to get one-to-one feedback on my singing. It worked really well as I was able to get more tailored and personalized approach to teaching.
I’ve noticed changes in better breathing technique, leading to a more powerful voice and more ease whilst singing. My voice has become stronger and more crisper, making it easier to attain higher notes in a comfortable way. The difference has been focusing on parts of a song/ melody that I struggled with to better attain certain notes, as well as visualizing the different parts of the mouth/ face where the sound should sit or resonate. I was surprised how much of a difference posture (relaxed shoulders, standing up straight) and breathing can make to achieving a better, stronger sound when singing.
Louise is a great teacher. Really clear in her explanations with great English, which helped to understand where I was going wrong and exactly what I should be doing. Very kind, funny and relaxed, making me feel comfortable to challenge myself and creating a great atmosphere, which makes the class even more enjoyable. I’ve seen noticeable changes and improvements in my singing technique. She understands your needs and your type of voice, so she tailors her approach, song choice and feedback to your individual needs. Louise is very knowledgable and also genuinely caring, which is noticeable in her teaching method. 🙂

Meet your new vocal coach

My name is Louise, I'm a vocal coach, flow specialist and owner of Vokalrummet
It is my great passion to help people expressing themselves - through their voice and as human beings.
Singing is a valve for you emotions that opens you to your sensibility and connects you to your body.
With encouragement and presence I will lovingly guide the singer through technical challenges and mental limitations - towards greater bodily awareness, musicality and freedom of singing. I inspire my students to be open and stand in insecurity and vulnerability - to strengthen the singers authentic sound, singers courage and full potential of the voice.
I am and educated jazz singer plus a pedagogical diploma from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, NL. I have taught rhythmical singing for more than 20 years and run my own vocal studio at Østerbro i Copenhagen.
Singing is a unique companion in meeting ourselves and learning to be present in the moment - with everything it entails for us. My education as a flowspecialist and the tools I gained from this; bodily connection, energy flow, personal courage and authenticity is naturally integrated in my singing coaching.
Besides teaching at Vokalrummet I perform as a jazz vocalist, am an aspiring songwriter and have published 2 albums: 'Listen Here' (2022) and 'Kick Off Your Shoes' (2015). louiseboettern.com
